BMW is cooking up something bigger than a simple face swap for the facelifted 5 Series Touring of the G61 generation — and fresh spy shots out of Germany confirm it. According to Carscoops, the wagon wears new headlights, a redesigned front bumper and different taillight graphics. The body profile, though, stays almost untouched — the camouflage isn't hiding the shape, it's hiding what happens inside.
And inside, a real revolution looks to be brewing. The outlet expects the BMW Panoramic iDrive system, a larger central touchscreen and an optional 3D projection display. BMW hasn't officially announced a facelift for the 5 Series. But the company has already confirmed that Neue Klasse technology will spread across the entire lineup by the end of 2027 — so the question isn't really "if" anymore, it's "when."
The current 5 Series Touring debuted in February 2024 and reached the European market that May. The wagon is built in Dingolfing with gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
Earlier, spy shots showed the facelifted BMW M5 Sedan and Touring testing with Neue Klasse styling cues. Production of the facelifted 5 Series could start in mid-2027 — though BMW has not officially confirmed that timeline.
