Volkswagen was hiding a surprise — and now it’s out. Fresh certification data from China has revealed the real numbers behind the electric Volkswagen ID. UNYX 09, and they’re serious. The Volkswagen Anhui model surfaced in July’s catalog from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Its world premiere already happened on April 21, 2026, just ahead of the Beijing auto show.
The sedan measures 5,081 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,509 mm tall, riding on a 3,030 mm wheelbase — generous for a coupe-like sedan. The base rear-wheel-drive version gets a 230 kW (313 hp) electric motor. The all-wheel-drive variant is the real surprise: two motors rated at 140 kW and 230 kW combine for 370 kW — about 503 horsepower. Top speed on both versions is capped at 200 km/h (124 mph).
The ID. UNYX 09 will run on CATL lithium iron phosphate batteries, though capacity, range and charging power are still under wraps. Volkswagen is only officially describing it as a five-meter electric sedan with advanced driver-assistance systems and an AI assistant. More details are expected later.
Volkswagen previously unveiled another member of the Chinese lineup — the ID. UNYX 06. Sales of the ID. UNYX 09 in China are expected in the second half of 2026. Whether it will reach Europe under the ID.9 name remains unconfirmed by Volkswagen.
