EPA testing usually deflates an automaker's marketing promises. With the Kia EV3, it did the opposite. The agency has published official range ratings for the 2027 model year crossover — and the numbers came in above Kia's own preliminary estimates. The base Standard Range with front-wheel drive is rated at 221 miles, or about 356 km. The Long Range FWD trim can go 321 miles — roughly 517 km.
Both all-wheel-drive variants with the larger battery finished with an identical result — 280 miles, around 451 km. That covers both the standard Long Range AWD and the more powerful GT AWD. For comparison, Kia had previously estimated around 320 miles — roughly 515 km — for the front-wheel-drive Wind trim. Reality turned out more generous than the promise. Only by a mile, but usually it goes the other way.
The EV3 comes with 58.3 and 81.4 kWh battery packs. The front-wheel-drive version uses a 150 kW electric motor, or 204 horsepower. U.S.-spec cars also get a native NACS port — the crossover will be able to charge at Tesla Supercharger stations and other compatible fast chargers.
Kia showed the EV3 earlier this year at the BIMOS-2026 auto show in Busan. Sales in the U.S. are expected to begin this summer — it's now a matter of weeks. But Kia is keeping the one number that matters most under wraps: official U.S. pricing still hasn't been announced.
