Ford just did something it has never done with a Transit before: it launched one without a diesel option. Ford Pro has opened German orders for the new electric Transit City van, and the model is already listed among the brand's current offers for business customers. This is the fifth member of the Transit family — and the first that exists only as a battery-electric vehicle. No diesel alternative. None at all.
The base Transit City costs €35,990 net. With Germany's 19% VAT, the price climbs to €42,828.10.
The van is powered by a 110 kW (150 hp) front-mounted electric motor paired with an LFP battery offering 56 kWh of usable capacity. The short-wheelbase version reaches up to 254 km of range under WLTP, and charging from 10 to 80% takes just 33 minutes. The cargo version offers up to 8 cubic meters of load space and a payload of up to 1,275 kg.
The Transit City comes in two van body styles plus a single-cab chassis — the first time Ford has offered a chassis cab in the one-tonne payload class. The brand is targeting the model at city deliveries and service fleets: bakeries, couriers, small businesses. Ford previously signaled plans to bring the Transit City to the European market. Orders are now open across the full lineup — the first vans on the street are just a matter of time.
