Police officers are about to add another vehicle to the watch list: Ford Pro has unveiled the new 2028 Expedition Police Responder at Police Fleet Expo — a big SUV that can now give chase, too. Full-size, five-seat, with all-wheel drive standard, this one was built specifically for law enforcement and lands in the category of vehicles rated for pursuit duty.
Under the hood sits a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 answering with 400 horsepower and 651 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque. Power runs through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Add a heavy-duty tow package, an integrated trailer brake controller, and a Torque-On-Demand transfer case, and this SUV is ready not just to chase, but to haul a trailer full of gear behind it.
For duty use, there's a 360-degree camera and a whole suite of aptly named systems: Police Dark Car, Police Engine Idle, Police Perimeter Alert. The front seats get heavy-duty cloth upholstery and anti-stab plates built into the seatbacks — just in case a passenger turns out to be less than friendly — while the floor is vinyl. The PAITRO system, meanwhile, lets officers restrict access to the cargo area.
The new model joins the Police Interceptor Utility and F-150 Police Responder, rounding out Ford Pro's already formidable police lineup. Pricing and delivery timing are being kept under wraps for now.
