Alpine just dropped a bombshell on its fans: don't expect a new model before 2030 at the earliest. CEO Philippe Krief said it plainly to Autocar — asked about expanding the lineup, he admitted there's nothing coming for at least four to five years.
The petrol A110 has already been retired. Right now the entire lineup rests on the electric A290 and A390 — that's it. The next move is obvious: a third-generation A110. Alpine is already testing the A110 Future prototype on its own APP platform — an 800-volt architecture with two separate battery packs and a 40:60 weight distribution between the axles.
According to Krief, once the new two-seat A110 coupe and a 2+2 version arrive, the brand will still need a fifth and sixth model. He didn't reveal what they'll be. The ambition, though, stays modest: Alpine wants to remain a niche player, targeting around 15,000 sales a year.
Renault Group's official strategy still names the A290, A390 and A110 as Alpine's key pillars, but the company hasn't disclosed what the fifth and sixth models will be.
