Sources inside Genesis's Namyang R&D center say a dedicated GV70 Black trim is nearly done — full blackout, dark 21-inch wheels and a debut before 2026 ends.

Genesis just hinted that plain black won't cut it for the GV70 anymore. The crossover already has an official dark version, Prestige Graphite — case closed, right? Not quite. According to Korean Car Blog, the brand is quietly finishing off something else entirely: a dedicated GV70 Black trim. As of August 20, Genesis hasn't announced it — the official global Black lineup currently lists the G90, G80, GV80 and GV80 Coupe, while the GV70 still sits there as a regular model. For now.

Sources inside the Namyang R&D center say the GV70 Black's look will mirror the principle used on its bigger siblings — and mirror it closely. The grille, headlight surrounds, window moldings, roof rails, badges and lower trim are all set to go fully black. Add to that 21-inch dark wheels, black Nappa leather, Black Ash or matte carbon trim, and a dedicated dark digital interface theme. Sounds great. There's just no official confirmation yet.

Still, the direction checks out. On the GV80 and GV80 Coupe, the factory Black treatment darkens practically everything that can be darkened — down to the inner headlight elements, badges and floating wheel center caps. The cabin follows the same logic. If Genesis doesn't reinvent the wheel, the GV70 should get the exact same total blackout.

Meanwhile, the GV70 has had Prestige Graphite since April — a version Genesis officially introduced for the 2027 model year. It comes with 21-inch dark wheels, red brake calipers, gloss-black mirrors, dark chrome, carbon accents and its own startup animation. But Graphite is aimed at a sportier look, while Black, if the leak holds up, is betting on something else entirely — total monochrome immersion in the dark.

Korean Car Blog also expects the range-topper to pair primarily with the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 and standard all-wheel drive. Worth a caveat here: that's not a confirmed spec — the outlet itself frames it as the most likely scenario, nothing more. Sources expect a public debut before the end of 2026.

The launch region remains completely unclear. Genesis is actively expanding its European presence in 2026, including markets where the Electrified GV70 is already part of the lineup, but whether Black will make it to those countries hasn't been confirmed.

The closest checkpoint for this leak is the GV70 Black showing up in Genesis's official catalog or a dedicated press release. Until then, it's more accurate to call this an upcoming trim rather than a done deal — one that's about to step out of the shadows.
