A Denza Z9GT hit 721.85 kW on a French Atlante station rated for just 600 kW, adding 43 kWh in four minutes. Nobody can fully explain how yet.

A number like 721.85 kW is enough to stop anyone tracking Europe's charging arms race in their tracks. But the more telling result is this: the Denza Z9GT's battery climbed from 47% to 80% in just four minutes, with the station delivering roughly 43 kWh. Simple math puts the average power at around 645 kW over that stretch — and that's not a flashy momentary spike, it's a sustained pace. The test was carried out by BYD France engineer Song Yu at an Atlante station in Saint-Flour.

And here's where it gets strange. The public listing for the Atlante station in Saint-Flour shows eight CCS connectors rated up to 600 kW, plus two more at 400 kW. How the car or the charging system hit 721.85 kW on hardware capped at 600 is something the public data simply doesn't explain. Calling it a proven breach of the station's physical limit without the operator's own logs would still be premature.

Even so, the number lines up neatly with what the new Z9GT is capable of. The European electric version runs BYD's second-generation Blade Battery at 122.49 kWh. BYD officially claims up to 1.5 MW for its Flash Charging system, with 10–70% in five minutes and 10–97% in nine.

The 43 kWh figure is worth checking too. A 33-percentage-point jump on a 122.49 kWh battery works out to roughly 40.4 kWh actually stored. The gap with the station's claimed 43 kWh comfortably fits within charging losses, cooling overhead and rounding — nothing here looks off. The infrastructure roadmap needed a correction too. The original report cited 3,000 Flash Charging stations across Europe by the end of 2026. Denza's official international release frames the timeline differently: 3,000 European stations are meant to join a global network of 6,000 outside China within 12 months of the April launch. That's not a small difference.

The Z9GT is already the first production model with second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging. This French test shows the next step: even today's public infrastructure can hold power output far beyond the usual 300–350 kW. BYD's claimed 1.5 MW will still need dedicated Flash Charging stations — but going by this, that gap may not stay open much longer.
