Owners of new Cadillac models have run into a strange software glitch: after picking a new display theme, part of the massive screen updates while the rest keeps showing the standard Flow background. The screen looks split in half — and General Motors has noticed. The company issued bulletin PIC6658 on the matter and specifically told service centers not to replace any parts: the problem is considered software-related.
The list includes the 2026 Cadillac CT5, as well as the Lyriq, Optiq and Vistiq for 2026–2027. The glitch shows up when selecting the Explore the Unknown or Signature themes: the new look only fills part of the screen. The workaround, though, is almost laughably simple. GM recommends opening the profile menu, selecting Add a profile, and creating a new user. Linking a Google account right away isn't necessary.
After switching to the fresh profile, Themes should once again fill the entire intended section of the display correctly. From there, the owner can connect their Google account and reinstall whatever apps they need. The bulletin itself is dated August 4, 2026. For warranty visits, GM has even set up a dedicated service operation for creating a new profile, with a labor time of 0.3 hours. This is not a recall campaign, and it's not a sign the display itself is faulty.
The glitch surfaced amid a major overhaul of Cadillac's infotainment system. This summer, GM began rolling out new over-the-air features for the Lyriq, Optiq, Vistiq and CT5, including a redesigned interface, larger touch zones, and user profiles linked to seat memory. GM hasn't yet said publicly when a permanent fix for the Themes bug is coming, so creating a new profile remains a workaround — not the final software patch.
