Kia just pulled off something almost nobody else bothers to do — updating three of its biggest models on the exact same day. The Sportage, Sorento and Carnival all rolled into South Korea as 2027 model-year cars, but there's a twist: a brand-new Black Edition trim, built on top of the range-topping Signature grade. The cheapest of the three is the gasoline Sportage, priced at 35.87 million won.
So what does Black Edition actually buy you? Dark metallic paint and gloss-black exterior trim, special wheels, an all-black cabin and suede headliner. Kia went a step further and cooked up a dedicated digital theme for the displays, free to download through the Kia Connect Store.
Here's where it gets interesting. The price gap over the regular Signature trim on the gasoline Sportage is just 300,000 won — pocket change for the upgrade. With the Sorento and Carnival, that gap widens considerably. The Sorento Black Edition with the 2.5-liter engine costs 44.41 million won, 1.94 million won above Signature. The nine-seat gasoline Carnival Black Edition comes in at 45.92 million won.
Kia didn't stop there — the standard trims got upgrades too. Every Sportage trim now comes with a 12.3-inch navigation screen, highway driving assist and navigation-based adaptive cruise control. The Sorento picked up 100-watt USB-C ports, while the hybrid Signature and X-Line trims now ride on 19-inch wheels. On the Carnival, LED tail lights are now standard across the board, and 100-watt USB-C ports have spread to all three rows.
The priciest Black Editions come with hybrid power, too. The nine-seat Carnival Hybrid starts at 50.47 million won, and the seven-seat version runs 53.01 million won. All of these figures apply to the South Korean market only.
