Peugeot has found an unusual way to raise the price almost unnoticed: just €400 separates the new ENVY version from the Allure trim. But what does the buyer actually get for that extra money? The 208 now starts at €24,050, while the 2008 crossover starts at €30,500. Sales are already open, and Peugeot itself makes the difference clear: ENVY costs exactly €400 more than a comparable Allure.
This is where things get interesting. The extra money does not buy more power, but more equipment. ENVY gets front seats from the more expensive GT version with Tremezzo upholstery, keyless entry and engine start, an HD reversing camera and new no-cost colors. For the 208 it is Alvao Green with a black roof, while the 2008 gets Nazare Blue. Wheel sizes are 16 and 17 inches respectively, and the 2008 crossover also gains a height-adjustable cargo floor.
Under the hood there are no surprises, and that is entirely deliberate. The powertrain lineup remains unchanged: the Turbo 100 petrol engine, 110 hp and 145 hp hybrids, plus electric versions. The E-208 ENVY is offered with 136 hp and 156 hp, while the electric 2008 has 156 hp. The sporty E-208 GTi is not part of the ENVY family. It is a separate 281 hp electric car that can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
Subtract the official €400 premium and the price picture becomes even clearer: comparable Allure Turbo 100 models work out to roughly €23,650 for the 208 and €30,100 for the 2008. In other words, Peugeot is effectively pricing the package of GT seats, keyless access, HD camera and distinctive styling at €400. And that is not the ceiling: the top ENVY model is the 156 hp electric 2008 at €40,700.
