AVATR has revealed the shape of its six-seat 9 Series flagship. Huawei technology is central, but the powertrain, battery, range and price are still being kept secret.

AVATR is charging into one of China’s hottest car segments — and it is doing it with six seats. The brand has fully revealed the exterior of its new 9 Series flagship SUV. It will be a large three-row model for six occupants and the first vehicle AVATR describes as a full-fledged joint project with Huawei. The market launch is planned before the end of 2026.

But the biggest cards are still hidden. This is not yet a full technical debut: AVATR has not even disclosed the model’s final name, while output, powertrain type, battery, range, dimensions and price remain under wraps. The official images show a closed-off front panel, split lighting, a panoramic roof and a lidar sensor above the windshield.

And this is where things get really interesting. Electronics could become one of the new flagship’s biggest weapons. An AVATR vice president previously said the six-seat SUV would use Huawei technologies for vehicle control, lighting, the voice interface and the driver-assistance suite. CnEVPost suggests the hardware could include Huawei Qiankun’s new 896-channel lidar, but AVATR itself has not confirmed the sensor type for the 9 Series.

That 896-channel lidar is already offered on higher-spec versions of the production AVATR 07L with Huawei ADS 5. The 9 Series, however, is aiming at a much bigger prize: instead of another conventional five-seat SUV, the brand is entering the large family-flagship arena already occupied by the AITO M9, Li Auto L9, Denza N9 and IM LS9. The bar is high. The AITO M9, for example, offers a six-lidar system, while one version reaches up to 1405 km on the CLTC cycle.

The price is just as mysterious. There is no price list for the 9 Series yet, but AVATR’s hierarchy offers a useful reference point: the current AVATR 07L starts in China at 229,900 yuan. The six-seat flagship is expected to sit above it, although guessing a final price before the official announcement would be premature.

So after the dramatic photos, one question matters most — what is hiding under the body? Will the flagship come as a pure EV, an EREV with a gasoline range extender, or both? What battery will it use, and how far will AVATR push Huawei integration? Those answers will decide whether the 9 Series can genuinely challenge the AITO M9 and Li Auto L9 rather than simply copy their six-seat formula.
