The 2027 Lyriq is faster and torquier in Australia, yet its battery shrinks to 92 kWh and DC charging drops sharply. The trade-off is impossible to miss.

Cadillac has done something almost paradoxical with the 2027 Lyriq: the electric crossover is noticeably quicker, yet it has also lost some battery capacity and driving range. In Australia and New Zealand, the model is now offered only as the dual-motor Sport AWD, producing 384 kW — roughly 522 metric hp — and 720 Nm of torque. The result is clear: 0–100 km/h now takes 4.9 seconds instead of 5.3.

Performance is not the only change. Official GM Australia & New Zealand data lists a 92 kWh battery and a WLTP range of 503 km. Inside, there is now a 23-speaker AKG audio system with Dolby Atmos, while the driver-assistance package gains lane centering and traffic-sign recognition. Sport is the only trim left for the market.

And this is where things get interesting. The update is a compromise: Australian outlet CarExpert calculated that torque rises by 110 Nm compared with the previous Sport, but the battery shrinks from 102 to 92 kWh. Range falls from 530 to 503 km, while peak DC fast-charging power drops from 190 to 130 kW. There is one upside — energy consumption improves from 22.5 to 20.2 kWh/100 km.

The price has not moved despite all these changes. In Australia, the Lyriq remains at 90,000 AUD, while in New Zealand it costs 100,000 NZD.

There is another detail buyers need to understand. Cadillac Lyriq specifications now vary significantly depending on the market the car was built for. The U.S.-spec 2027 Lyriq officially keeps a 102 kWh battery, and the all-wheel-drive version is rated at 515 hp. Australia and New Zealand, by contrast, get the 92 kWh pack. The model year alone is no longer enough — the original market matters.

The U.S.-spec 2027 Lyriq has already been detailed with up to 526 km of range and 190 kW charging, while one of the key changes for the model year was North America’s switch to the NACS connector. The Australian Lyriq now shows the other side of that story: the same badge and model year can hide substantially different EV hardware.
