The Vatican has added the all-electric BMW iX60, received by Pope Leon XIV. Dual motors deliver 544 hp, over 700 km WLTP range and 195 kW fast charging.
The Vatican fleet has welcomed a new arrival — the all-electric BMW iX60. The handover took place in the presence of Pope Leon XIV, with BMW chief Oliver Zipse and the leadership of BMW Italia attending. The company noted that choosing the iX60 reflects its commitment to eco-friendly solutions, a message that neatly aligns with its broader sustainability push.

The BMW iX60 is equipped with a dual-motor setup delivering 400 kW (544 hp) and all-wheel drive. It sprints to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and tops out at 200 km/h. According to WLTP, driving range exceeds 700 km. The 109.1 kWh battery supports fast charging at up to 195 kW, which should make long trips more straightforward between stops.
Dimensions are 4,965 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width and 1,695 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. Inside, the BMW Curved Display merges the instrument cluster and infotainment on iDrive 8.5. The setup supports 5G and voice control via BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, giving the cabin a clean, tech-forward feel without distracting from the essentials.
