GWM launches Tank 700 in the Middle East, teases Hi4 e-hybrid 4WD and new V8 platform
Great Wall Motor launches Tank 700 in the Middle East, sets 2026 arrival for Hi4 e-hybrid 4WD, and previews a 4.0-liter V8 platform with off-road rating system.
Great Wall Motor has brought its flagship 4x4, the Tank 700, to the Middle East and, at the same time, set out a technology roadmap for the year ahead. The newcomer reached UAE showrooms on December 6, with a broader regional rollout to follow; a standalone debut in Qatar is slated for the coming month. The move underscores the brand’s intent to build a visible footprint across the region.

In parallel, GWM confirmed that its Hi4 intelligent e‑hybrid 4WD system will arrive in Middle Eastern and African markets in 2026. The idea behind Hi4 is breadth of capability: dependable traction and control on tricky surfaces, paired with smarter powertrain management tailored to different scenarios, from city streets to demanding off‑road routes. On paper, that kind of flexibility is exactly what a mixed‑use SUV needs.
At the presentation, the company also previewed the hardware direction for future models: a platform for a new 4.0‑liter turbocharged V8 and an off‑road capability rating system designed to make it clearer what each vehicle is built to do—whether it’s a relaxed crossover for everyday outings or a machine for serious trails. Clearer guidance like this helps buyers cut through spec‑sheet noise and set expectations before the first test drive.
