Toyota Urban Cruiser electric SUV arrives in Europe with LFP batteries and AWD option
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV for Europe: B-SUV co-developed with Suzuki, 49-61 kWh LFP, up to 426 km WLTP, AWD option, 45-min fast charge, 10-year battery care.
Toyota is expanding its European electric crossover lineup with the new Urban Cruiser in the B-SUV class. Crucially, this isn’t another co-development with Subaru like the bZ4X and its counterparts: the Urban Cruiser was created with Suzuki and is essentially a close relative of the Suzuki e‑Vitara. For Toyota, the move makes sense, reflecting a long-standing habit of rebadging the Urban Cruiser from Suzuki bases in different regions. The partnership also hints at a pragmatic focus on efficiency over reinvention—exactly what this segment tends to reward.

In Europe, the Urban Cruiser is positioned as the all-electric alternative to the Yaris Cross Hybrid, giving compact-class buyers a choice between zero and low emissions. The lineup includes three versions: a base front-wheel-drive model with a 49‑kWh battery (144 hp, 344 km WLTP), plus 61‑kWh options—front-wheel drive (174 hp, 426 km WLTP) and all-wheel drive (184 hp, 395 km WLTP). Both batteries use LFP chemistry, prioritizing longevity and cost, and Toyota cites thermal management for both heat and cold. On paper, the mix looks tailored to everyday use rather than headline-chasing numbers.
Toyota also mentions a Battery Care program that targets at least 70% capacity retention for 10 years or up to 1 million km. DC fast charging is estimated at around 45 minutes to go from 10 to 80%. For city-first crossovers, those assurances can be as persuasive as raw performance figures.
