A next-generation hydrogen fuel cell crossover, the Hyundai NEXO emits only water vapor and embodies the brand’s vision for zero-emission mobility. Its highest safety rating stands as convincing proof of Hyundai’s focus on protection, especially in light of the previous five-star Euro NCAP results achieved by the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and IONIQ 9. It is a clear reminder that cutting-edge drivetrains can still meet mainstream safety expectations.

The all-new Hyundai NEXO posted strong results across all four Euro NCAP assessment areas, including 90% for Adult Occupant protection and 85% for Child Occupant protection.

In tests involving adult passengers, the cabin remained stable during the frontal offset impact, delivering good protection for the knees, femurs, and all critical body regions for both driver and front passenger. That kind of structural composure is what separates a solid showing from a standout one.

NEXO also scored highly in the full-width rigid barrier test, took maximum points in the side barrier impact, and provided effective rear-seat protection thanks to a central airbag.

Child protection was equally strong. The test dummies indicated good protection in all critical areas during both frontal and side impacts, with maximum points awarded. Additional safeguards include a front passenger airbag deactivation function with clear status indication and compatibility with the installation of all approved child restraint systems—practical touches that matter to families.

Euro NCAP also praised the NEXO’s enhanced eCall system, its technology for preventing secondary collisions after an accident, and the verified operability of doors and windows in the event of flooding. Together, these checks suggest a safety brief designed for real-world scenarios, not just the crash lab.
