Toyota GAZOO Racing has confirmed its presence at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, set for January 9–11 at Makuhari Messe. The spotlight will fall on the flagship GR GT and GR GT3: after their prototype debuts in December, the pair will be shown to the public for the first time, with demonstration runs scheduled for January 10. A livestreamed press conference is planned for the morning of January 9, where Akio Toyoda—known as Master Driver Morizo—is expected to appear.

The TGR booth promises more than a static look at bodywork. Visitors are set to get a behind-the-scenes view of the flagships, including cutaway displays that feature Toyota’s first fully aluminum space frame and a production 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, described as core hardware for both the GR GT and GR GT3. Such openness at a show stand is rare and signals strong confidence in the program.

In parallel, Toyota is leaning into brand loyalty: the GR Passport app will relaunch as the GR app on January 9. The idea is a digital garage with status earned through purchases and event participation, plus access to purchase lotteries and other perks. The booth will also showcase GR Heritage Parts prototypes, including components for the A80 Supra and parts for the AE86, with some items planned for a 2026 release, as well as a new GR PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE featuring an expanded Circuit Mode. The strategy ties hardware, software, and community into a single ecosystem that should resonate with enthusiasts.
