GM to update brake control module on Cadillac Lyriq and Chevy Blazer EV
GM will update the brake control module on 2023-2024 Cadillac Lyriq and Chevy Blazer EVs, with free service through Nov 30, 2027; few may need master cylinder.
Some Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Blazer EV vehicles may be running an older software build for the brake control module, according to information about model years 2023 and 2024.
To address the issue, General Motors has instructed dealers to reprogram the brake control module. If the symptoms remain, the remedy escalates to replacing the master cylinder and the brake fluid. GM indicated that only a small number of vehicles are expected to require that level of repair.
All related service work will be performed at no cost to owners, regardless of mileage or vehicle age, through November 30, 2027. The plan starts with a straightforward software update—standard practice for today’s EVs—and only if that doesn’t settle the system, mechanical components come into play.
