Mercedes-Benz will unveil the new GLB EQ electric crossover this December. The model is based on the Modular Midsize Architecture (MMA), a platform developed for premium compact cars and designed to flex with the evolving demands of the EV market.

The GLB EQ will use an 800-volt high-voltage battery, enabling rapid charging and a notable boost in overall efficiency. On a full charge, the crossover targets up to 600 kilometers on the WLTP cycle—figures that should put range anxiety on the back burner for most daily needs.

Thanks to support for around 350 kW fast charging, the battery can be replenished to 80% in just a few minutes. That kind of throughput promises quick turnarounds on long trips, which often matters more than peak numbers on a spec sheet.

Visually, the GLB EQ retains Mercedes-Benz signature cues yet steps away from the traditional GLB playbook. Its more adventurous look draws inspiration from the Smart Vision EQ fortwo No. 5 concept, underscoring a futuristic, technology-led direction.

Inside, the cabin pairs premium materials with contemporary ergonomics, borrowing select design elements from the recently introduced CLA sedan. The spotlight is on digital features: the MBUX infotainment system integrates advanced AI capabilities to streamline interaction and bolster comfort behind the wheel.

An optional third row will also be available, expanding seating to accommodate up to seven passengers—useful versatility for families or those who value flexible space.

Order books for the Mercedes-Benz GLB EQ will open almost in step with the official presentation, with pre-orders available shortly after the crossover’s debut. Taken together, the package reads as a smart blend of everyday usability and forward-looking EV tech.
