Hyundai has expanded the second-generation Venue lineup with a new HX5+ trim. Less than two months after the model was refreshed, the version has gone on sale at roughly $12,000. The newcomer slots between the HX5 and the pricier HX6.

The Hyundai Venue HX5+ comes exclusively with a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter gasoline engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The Kappa-family unit delivers 83 hp and around 115 Nm of torque, and the claimed fuel economy is 18 km per liter. It’s the same engine used in most Venue variants, which keeps the driving experience familiar and straightforward rather than flashy.

Outside, the HX5+ borrows selectively from the pricier HX6, gaining quad-section LED headlamps, roof rails, and a rear wiper with washer. At the same time, it retains the 15-inch steel wheels and simpler body trim of the HX5, without black mirror caps or a spoiler. The result nudges the styling up a notch without pretending to be something it isn’t.

Inside, the HX5+ adds useful touches: wireless charging, a central armrest with storage, a rear sunshade, and a driver’s window with an automatic function. Priced about $1,000 above the HX5 and nearly $400 below the HX6, it positions itself as the sensible middle ground for buyers who value practicality over pomp.
