Toyota Modellista to showcase flagship concept and GEOMETRICAL organic prototype at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon
At the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, Toyota's Modellista will unveil a concept and a prototype with GEOMETRICAL organic design; teasers hint at Alphard/Lexus roots.
Toyota Customizing & Development has confirmed that at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, the Modellista brand will unveil two projects meant to showcase the next chapter of its design identity. The stand will bring together two vehicles with distinct purposes.
The first is a concept positioned as a flagship image leader, provisionally dubbed The Modellista. Developed with an eye to future commercialization, it is intended to convey the Modellista world, including elements designed to engage all five senses. Crucially, it isn’t just a static mock-up: visitors will be able to sit inside and experience some of the ideas firsthand. The invitation to interact hints at a shift from purely cosmetic add-ons toward a more immersive brand experience.

The second debut is a prototype of an upcoming production model. It will be the brand’s first vehicle to receive products shaped by the new GEOMETRICAL organic design approach, which blends crisp geometry with organic forms to create a more overtly futuristic look. Full details on both vehicles are promised for the January 9 press conference. The concept sounds ambitious, and if the execution matches the pitch, it could give the lineup a sharper, more coherent visual thread.
Teaser images have already stoked interest: judging by the light signatures, observers suggest the concept may be based on the Toyota Alphard, while the prototype could sit on a platform from one of the Lexus models.
