SAIC Z7 teased: EV sedan echoes Porsche Taycan in images
SAIC unveils teaser images of the Z7 electric car, revealing styling closely mirroring the Porsche Taycan. Specs and debut date remain undisclosed. Buzz builds.
Chinese automaker SAIC has released new teaser images of the Z7 electric car, a model whose styling comes strikingly close to the Porsche Taycan. The car was developed by a young SAIC brand launched by SAIC Motor within the HIMA alliance. SAIC Motor is also known as the parent company of MG.
Earlier, the resemblance was noticeable mainly in the side profile, but the latest visuals reveal the front and rear. Judging by the images, the body shape, lighting, and overall light signature link the Z7 directly to the German electric sedan. The headlights adopt a familiar outline with a lower notch, while the daytime running light graphics echo Porsche’s style with horizontal LED elements at the corners. At a glance, the likeness is hard to miss.

SAIC previously stated that the Z7’s design is on par with an expensive European sports car. The new images suggest that the inspiration extends beyond overall proportions to individual exterior details.
SAIC has not announced the timing of the Z7’s official debut. Technical specifications, powertrain, and range also remain undisclosed. Even so, the car has already become one of the most talked-about debuts in the EV space, likely to draw attention—and possibly a response—from Porsche.
