All-new Nissan LEAF named WWCOTY Best Compact Car, now with Google built-in and extended range
The all-new Nissan LEAF is crowned WWCOTY Best Compact Car, pairing extended range (52/75 kWh) with Google built-in tech for easier, connected EV driving.
Nissan announced that the all-new Nissan LEAF has been named the Best Compact Car in the World by the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) jury, the only global automotive award decided exclusively by women motoring journalists.
The latest LEAF pairs a streamlined, aerodynamic silhouette with an upgraded electric powertrain. Range is extended by 52 or 75 kWh battery options, and the car leans on intuitive tech to encourage confident, connected driving.
For everyday convenience, the new LEAF features the latest Google technologies. The Google built-in suite includes Google Maps, Play Store for downloading apps directly to the car, and Google Assistant, which enables hands-free control of navigation, climate, and media, as well as syncing personal apps and services. This level of integration makes the interface feel familiar and lowers the barrier for those moving to an EV.
Nissan President and CEO Ivan Espinosa said the WWCOTY recognition affirms the company’s commitment to making electric vehicles accessible and attractive to all drivers. Combined with the LEAF’s clean design and flexible battery choices, the accolade underscores a focus on real-world usability over showy specs—exactly the balance many compact buyers value.
