BMW art car exhibition in Paris with Calder and other artists
See BMW's art cars in Paris, including the 1975 3.0 CSL by Alexander Calder, at Hôtel de la Marine until January 26. Features classic and modern designs from the series.
BMW has brought an original art car to Paris—a 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL painted by artist Alexander Calder. This vehicle was the first in the Art Car series. The exhibition is set in the courtyard of the historic Hôtel de la Marine on Place de la Concorde and will run until January 26. It's open daily from 8:00 AM to midnight.
For classic car enthusiasts, Paris is also gearing up for a major display: the Retromobile show will feature all seven BMW Art Cars that have raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Alongside Calder's 3.0 CSL, versions by Frank Stella (1976) and Roy Lichtenstein's BMW 320i Turbo (1977) will be on view.
The lineup includes Andy Warhol's BMW M1 (1979), Jenny Holzer's V12 LMR (1999), Jeff Koons' M3 GT2 (2010), and Julie Mehretu's M Hybrid V8 (2024). Overall, BMW's collection totals 20 Art Cars.
This Paris showcase is part of the brand's anniversary celebrations: the collection marks its 50th year in 2025, while Retromobile itself turns 50 in 2026.
