General Motors has issued a service bulletin addressing braking and StabiliTrak stability control system malfunctions in certain full-size Chevrolet models. The document covers Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban pickups and SUVs from the 2022 through 2026 model years sold in North America.

According to GM, owners may experience ABS warning lights, Service Brake System and Service StabiliTrak messages, and changes in brake pedal feel. Diagnostics typically show error code C055F, with an updated C0597 code for 2026 models. The issue most frequently occurs at temperatures below -23 degrees Celsius.

The manufacturer suggests that low voltage, particularly from a weak battery in cold weather, could be the primary cause. No specific faulty component has been identified. GM recommends checking the battery, cables, fuse blocks, ground points, and charging system, while also looking for parasitic drains and aftermarket equipment.

Testing the battery in actual cold conditions is emphasized as a more effective way to pinpoint the root cause. This situation highlights how winter vehicle selection should consider not just drivetrain and ground clearance, but also electronic systems' resilience to low temperatures.
