Toyota has introduced the updated 2026 RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid to the Japanese market. The lineup includes Z versions (PHEV and HEV), Adventure (HEV), and a new GR Sport (PHEV only). Starting price is from 6 million yen (approximately $38,800), with the GR Sport priced at 6.3 million yen.

Under the hood is a new hybrid system with a combined output of 242 kW (325 hp). The claimed electric-only range reaches 150 km. A V2L function has been added: via the standard charging port, the vehicle can power external devices up to 1,500 W. In emergency power supply mode, it can support a load of up to 400 W for up to 6.5 days with a fully charged battery and full fuel tank.

The GR Sport version features sporty body kits, special GR Performance Dampers, body reinforcements, and retuned suspension and steering. Visually, PHEV versions stand out with black accents around the body perimeter.

Simultaneously, Toyota is launching the Upgrade Selections by Toyota Upgrade Factory program—a wide catalog of genuine accessories ranging from hood deflectors and cargo trays to off-road packages, lighting, and official GR Parts.

In practice, this means the RAV4 PHEV is evolving beyond just a hybrid into a versatile tool—from a dynamic crossover to a mobile power source. With the GR Sport version, the model strengthens its sporty image while retaining practicality.
