2026 Ford Mustang Grille: How Each Trim Defines Its Own Look
Explore the 2026 Ford Mustang's grille variations across trims: from EcoBoost's simple black to Dark Horse's unique nostrils and RTR's illuminated front. Prices start at $32,640. Read more.
The 2026 Ford Mustang stays true to the classic muscle-car formula, but its front end varies significantly across trims and packages. The grille has evolved from a mere functional piece to a defining element of each model's personality.
The base EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium come standard with a black molded-in-color (MIC) plastic grille. No other options are offered, but there's no extra charge either.
Mustang GT and GT Premium get a gloss black grille that gives them a more aggressive stance. Order the $5,660 GT Performance Package, and the upper grille becomes painted high-gloss black while the lower section switches to MIC carbon black. That sportier look suits the V8 nicely.
For a retro touch, Ford offers the FX Package at $1,690. Exclusive to the GT Premium, it adds a gloss black grille with dark carbonized gray inserts. The result is a less conventional front end that nods to classic Mustangs.
Dark Horse, Dark Horse Premium, and the new range-topping Dark Horse SC all use a unique painted front upper grille with a pony emblem and prominent nostrils. Ford doesn't provide alternatives here—the Dark Horse has its own identity and that's final. Separate packages are also available for the EcoBoost.
The limited TLD Signature Edition Package ($3,000) brings a gloss black grille with bronze nostril inserts. Meanwhile, the RTR package makes the front end even more distinctive with its signature illuminated RTR elements. Prices for the 2026 Mustang in the U.S. start at $32,640 for the EcoBoost (excluding destination). At the other extreme, the Dark Horse SC starts at $106,490, also before delivery.
The Mustang stopped being all about the engine long ago. For 2026, even the grille tells a story—whether it's a simple EcoBoost, a classic GT, retro FX, aggressive Dark Horse, or show-stopping RTR. One silhouette now wears several distinct faces.
