The electric fastback Canadian buyers haven’t seen in showrooms for two years is finally back. Polestar 2 is returning to Canada — and not by accident. After Ottawa slashed its punishing 100% tariff on Chinese-built EVs down to a far more forgiving 6.1%, the Swedish brand got its second shot at a car local dealers were forced to pull from the floor back in 2024.
The return rounds out Polestar’s Canadian line-up to a full three-car roster — the 2 now stands alongside the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4. Pricing starts at CA$69,900 (around US$50,223), and the offer is deliberately simple: one Long Range Dual Motor variant, no ‘play with the configurator’ games. The good stuff is already in the box.
So what’s new for the 2027 model year? The biggest upgrade is hiding where almost nobody thinks to look — under the dashboard trim. The infotainment system is now driven by a fresh Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Polestar promises the thing EVs usually fumble: instant response, snappy app loads, and an interface that actually feels smooth.
The company stripped the buying process down to its bones. Standard kit now includes the Pilot, Plus and Climate packs, 19-inch Aero wheels and a choice of five exterior colours. No three-page options sheet. Grab the keys and go.
And there’s plenty to go on. The Long Range Dual Motor pushes out 310 kW — that’s 421 hp waiting under your right foot. Zero to 100 km/h takes 4.5 seconds. EPA-rated range tops out at 447 km. Not a record, but honest numbers for an electric fastback that just clawed its way back from the dead.
