Mitsubishi Pajero Sport temporarily removed in Brazil due to Proconve L8
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport removed from Brazil website due to Proconve L8 emission standards. Learn about the engine specs, 2026 version halt, and new generation testing.
Mitsubishi has removed the Pajero Sport from its official Brazilian website. Unlike the L200 pickup, which has been completely replaced by the new Triton, the SUV's disappearance is temporary. The reason is new environmental regulations called Proconve L8, which took effect in January of last year.
The Pajero Sport was imported from Thailand and equipped with a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine, similar to the one in the L200. This engine produced 190 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, a 4x4 system, a low-range transfer case, and a rear differential lock. Since the engine was not adapted to meet the new emission standards, the model did not receive a 2026 version.
The current generation debuted in 2018, and in 2024, the SUV received a redesigned grille and new trim options. Mitsubishi is now testing a new generation of the Pajero, based on the fresh Triton platform. Prototypes have already been spotted during testing, with a debut expected this year.
