Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch the VLE electric minivan on a new modular architecture designed for the brand's next generation of electric vehicles starting in 2026. The model targets the large premium MPV segment and will be offered in versions for families and private clients, as well as in a shuttle format. A more luxurious VLS will later join the lineup.

The VLE can accommodate up to eight passengers, combining limousine-like comfort with minivan practicality. During European testing, two prototypes covered over 1,000 kilometers on the Stuttgart to Rome route, making only two short charging stops. The route included Alpine passes, highways, and city streets.

A key feature is the steerable rear axle with a turning angle of up to 7 degrees. Despite a length exceeding 5.5 meters, the turning circle is around 10.9 meters, comparable to the Mercedes CLA. A more direct steering ratio further simplifies maneuvering.

The model is equipped with a battery offering a usable capacity of 115 kWh. It also includes an automatic parking system: the car handles steering and propulsion independently, with the driver only needing to control braking. Functions for automatic parking exit and reversing along a previously recorded path are available.

The VLE will be one of the new arrivals in the electric minivan segment at auto shows, marking a new chapter in Mercedes-Benz's lineup of commercial and passenger models.
