Scout Motors responds to potential Terra and Traveler SUV delay
Scout Motors clarifies production timeline for Terra and Traveler SUVs amid reports of delays, highlighting progress and specs like $60k price and 350-mile range.
Scout Motors has responded to a report by the German newspaper Der Spiegel about a potential delay in starting production of the Terra and Traveler SUVs. According to the publication, technical challenges could push the launch to summer 2028, with sources suggesting earlier timelines now seem unlikely.
The company stated that there are no changes to the schedule at this time. A Scout representative indicated that no updates on timing or product strategy are currently planned. The official website still lists production starting in 2027, though it includes a note about possible adjustments.
Scout highlights progress in model development, construction of its South Carolina factory, and establishment of a supplier network. The 1,100-acre facility in Blythewood is being built from the ground up, as are the models themselves, which are not based on any current Volkswagen Group products.
The starting price is set below $60,000. Refundable reservations are available for $100 for the electric versions and models with a gasoline generator. Electric variants will offer a range of up to 350 miles (563 km), with extended-range versions exceeding 500 miles (over 805 km). These new vehicles are targeted at the North American SUV market.
