Spy photographers have captured an updated Genesis GV70 with a gasoline engine showing no signs of electrification. The prototype features dual exhaust pipes and lacks a charging port, indicating a conventional powertrain without a plug-in or fully electric version.

Based on visual cues, this appears to be the Sport variant with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. This unit produces 375 horsepower and 391 Nm of torque. The base GV70 comes with a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine rated at 300 horsepower and 311 Nm. All versions are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The facelift will involve updates to the front and rear lighting. The headlights will retain the brand's signature dual-line styling but feature a revised shape. Similar adjustments are expected for the taillights. No major platform changes are anticipated, as the model was already updated for the 2026 model year.

In parallel, Genesis is developing an EREV version with extended range, but the gasoline GV70 will continue production. This move highlights the brand's commitment to keeping conventional internal combustion engine models in its lineup alongside new 2026 vehicles, without fully abandoning traditional powertrains. The official debut is expected later this year.
