SEAT has announced the launch of a pre-production series of electric vehicles at its Martorell plant. The final industrialization phase is currently testing production processes and quality standards ahead of the series production start for the Cupra Raval. Later, it will be joined by the Volkswagen ID. Polo—one of the Volkswagen Group's key projects in the affordable urban electric car segment.

The plant has undergone significant modernization for these models: approximately 160,000 square meters of space have been adapted, Production Line 1 has been updated, 1,000 new robots have been installed in the body shop, and 60 stamping tools, including a PXL press, have been added. A 600-meter automated bridge has also been put into operation, connecting the assembly line to the battery systems workshop.

SEAT/Cupra is coordinating development for related models as well, including the VW ID. Cross and the Škoda Epiq. The project involves over 90 suppliers and 110 production sites in Spain, which account for about 70% of material costs.

Electric vehicle production in Martorell will mark a significant milestone for the Volkswagen Group and is part of the program to launch new 2026 models in the compact urban segment. Series production is expected to begin soon.
