MINI GP Inspired Edition: a special series for Japan with JCW styling
Discover the MINI GP Inspired Edition, a limited series for Japan featuring JCW styling, Legend Grey paint, and no technical upgrades. Available in Cooper S and JCW trims.
MINI has officially unveiled the GP Inspired Edition, a special series for the Japanese market styled after the legendary GP performance versions but without any technical upgrades. The new model comes in two trims: the five-door Cooper S and the three-door John Cooper Works. Despite the evocative name, this is not a true GP but a visually enhanced package featuring numerous parts from the JCW catalog.
Both versions are painted in Legend Grey with a Chili Red contrast roof and mirrors. The body sports signature stripes and decals with track outlines on the C-pillars. MINI has also added JCW aerodynamic elements, including small side winglets and a large rear spoiler that gives the silhouette a more aggressive look. The exterior is finished with 18-inch JCW alloy wheels in a two-tone finish and red center caps.

Inside, the cabin features illuminated door sills, a dark headliner, power-adjustable seats, and a driver's massage function. Even the key fob gets unique GP Inspired styling, and the floor mats have exclusive chevron patterns.
In Japan, the Cooper S will be limited to 145 units priced at ¥5,870,000 (about $37,500). The JCW version is even rarer, with just 45 cars available for ¥6,060,000 (around $38,800). Both trims include the Driving Assistant Plus package.
There are no technical changes: the Cooper S retains its 2.0-liter B48 turbo engine with 201 horsepower, while the JCW has 228 horsepower. Both come with a 7-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. MINI emphasizes that a full-fledged GP F66 version, if it arrives, won't be soon—the current model is still too new. The GP Inspired Edition, however, offers buyers at least a partial taste of what a future top-tier variant might feel like.
