Mercedes-Benz reports strong demand for the electric versions of its CLA and GLC models. According to board member for sales Matthias Geisen, orders for battery-powered models increased by 18% in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the previous quarter.
Customers are particularly enthusiastic about the new CLA with EQ technology. The electric GLC is also attracting interest, even though it hasn't yet arrived in dealerships. This surge in orders has pushed delivery timelines to the second half of the year, prompting the company to expand its production capacity.
The electric CLA is built on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform. It offers power outputs ranging from 165 kW (224 hp) to 260 kW (354 hp), with WLTP ranges between 543 and 792 km. In Germany, the starting price is €49,420.70. Alongside fully electric versions, a hybrid option is available.
The new GLC with EQ technology uses the MB.EA-M platform. The initial version features a powertrain with 360 kW (489 hp) and a range of up to 673 km. Pricing in Germany starts at €71,281. These electric vehicles are becoming a key part of Mercedes' strategy in the premium segment.
