BMW plans to launch the new generation of the electric iX1 in 2027. According to industry sources, the compact crossover will move to the new Neue Klasse platform, though official confirmation is still pending. Production of the current iX1 has been ongoing in Regensburg for nearly four years, and the plant is already preparing for the model changeover.Several versions of the model are expected. In addition to the base rear-wheel-drive iX1 30, an all-wheel-drive variant called the iX1 M50 xDrive may debut, featuring M badging and around 600 horsepower. An 800-volt architecture is planned to enable faster charging and improved efficiency.Prototypes of the new iX1 have already been spotted on roads. Despite camouflage, design elements borrowed from the new-generation iX3 are visible, including lighting and front-end styling. BMW has stated that the Neue Klasse will incorporate new cylindrical battery cells aimed at reducing costs for the most expensive component of an electric vehicle. How this will affect the next generation's pricing remains unclear.
