The current Hyundai Staria powertrain lineup in the Australian market features two engine options: a 3.5-liter gasoline unit producing 200 kW (approximately 272 hp) with 331 Nm of torque, and a 2.2-liter diesel engine delivering 130 kW (about 177 hp) and 430 Nm of torque.

The upcoming hybrid versions of the Hyundai Staria and Staria Load are expected to utilize a powertrain similar to the one already implemented in the Kia Carnival. This setup centers around a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The new hybrid system is anticipated to offer comparable power and driving dynamics while maintaining high fuel efficiency.

A key advantage of the new hybrid will be significantly improved fuel consumption. Estimates suggest it will achieve around 7.6 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers. This is a notable improvement over the current gasoline versions, which average about 10.5 L/100km, and the diesel models, which sit around 8.2 L/100km.

Beyond the mechanical upgrades, the refresh will also bring design changes to the vehicle's front end. A new bumper, radiator grille, and lighting package will give the Staria a more contemporary look. Inside the cabin, comfort will be enhanced by a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system, an updated climate control system, and expanded mobile device charging capabilities.

For drivers who prefer manual control, a new manual transmission will become available on select versions of the cargo-focused Staria Load van.

The launch of these new models is timed with the previously announced update to the current Staria family as part of a scheduled mid-cycle refresh planned for 2026. However, precise timelines for the start of production and official sales of the hybrid variants remain unconfirmed.
