New Mercedes GLB mild-hybrid gasoline models expand crossover lineup
Mercedes-Benz introduces mild-hybrid gasoline versions of the GLB crossover, featuring 48-volt technology, up to 190 horsepower, and improved fuel efficiency.
Mercedes-Benz has expanded its GLB crossover lineup with new mild-hybrid gasoline versions. Following a recent facelift and the introduction of a fully electric variant, the model now features hybrid powertrains with 48-volt technology.
The new versions are built around a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It works alongside an electric module that provides an additional acceleration boost of up to 30 horsepower. This setup improves performance while reducing fuel consumption. The lineup includes three power levels: 136, 163, and 190 horsepower. Depending on the version, buyers can choose between front-wheel drive or the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
The engine utilizes the Miller cycle, which helps cut fuel consumption under partial loads. The design also features an aluminum cylinder block with Nanoslide coating, a turbocharger with a segmented turbine, and an upgraded 48-volt cooling system with electric components.
After the update, the interior has changed as well. The crossover now comes with a Superscreen featuring three integrated displays. The model retains its spacious cabin and the option to add a third row of seats for children on short trips.
Orders for the Mercedes GLB are already open. The base GLB 180 Advanced version, with 136 horsepower, starts at 49,516 euros.
