BMW M3 GT3 Touring: Racing wagon for Nürburgring 24H
BMW may enter an M3 GT3 Touring racing wagon in the Nürburgring 24H race. Learn about this unusual car from fan-driven rumors to potential track performance.
BMW might be preparing one of the most unusual cars for the Nürburgring 24H race. Recent rumors suggest the brand is considering entering a racing version of the M3 Touring wagon, dubbed the M3 GT3 Touring.
The speculation began with a teaser from BMW Motorsport, which showed the brand's signature yellow daytime running lights and illuminated Iconic Glow kidney grille. These features are typical of BMW's GT3 racing models, fueling assumptions about an extreme M3 Touring variant.
Interestingly, the idea for such a car originally surfaced as an April Fools' joke nearly a year ago. However, fan reaction was so overwhelmingly positive that the project appears to have gained real momentum.

The production BMW M3 Touring already boasts a strong reputation on the Nordschleife circuit. The wagon was previously considered the fastest production wagon on this track, and the 543-horsepower M3 CS Touring recently posted an official lap time of 7 minutes 29.490 seconds.
If a GT3 version does hit the track, it would operate in a completely different performance league. According to Motorsport-Magazin, the car could compete in the SP-X class, which permits experimental and unique racing machines.
So far, BMW has officially confirmed the participation of three M4 GT3 Evo cars in the 2026 race. Yet, the debut of an M3 GT3 Touring would rank among the most unusual and spectacular entries in the history of the legendary 24 Hours of Nürburgring event.
