Tesla's Grünheide factory near Berlin has made over 700,000 Model Y electric crossovers, creating 11,000 jobs and serving 36 markets. Learn about production milestones and expansion plans.
Tesla has announced that its factory in Grünheide near Berlin has produced over 700,000 Model Y electric crossovers. Production at the facility began four years ago. According to the company, the vehicles have been delivered to 36 of the 54 markets where Tesla operates. The plant has also created around 11,000 jobs and trained hundreds of students and interns.
Currently, the factory only manufactures the Model Y. A year ago, Tesla reported reaching the 500,000-vehicle production milestone. The current production capacity is estimated at more than 375,000 cars per year.
Plans to expand to 1 million vehicles annually have been temporarily paused due to decreased demand for electric vehicles. Instead, Tesla has focused on developing battery cell production, where capacity has already reached up to 8 GWh.
