BMW Alpina updates exhaust design and hints at new B7 model
Explore BMW Alpina's future with a modern four-tailpipe exhaust and potential B7 sedan comeback. Learn about its premium positioning and integration into BMW.
BMW is gradually revealing what the future holds for Alpina as the brand becomes fully integrated. The first detail to emerge is an updated signature feature: a four-tailpipe exhaust system that will retain the recognizable style but receive a modern execution.
New Design: Evolution Without Radical Changes
A teaser shows oval tailpipes integrated into a redesigned rear diffuser. The exhaust is now more neatly incorporated into the bodywork, emphasizing a shift toward more premium positioning.
At the same time, BMW hasn't abandoned Alpina's classic formula. The four pipes remain a key visual element, but now they serve not only as a style statement but also as part of a new acoustic concept.
A Possible Hint at the New Alpina B7
The teaser's release coincides with expectations for the return of the B7 model. This flagship sedan was previously discontinued in 2022, but BMW has already hinted at its comeback in the new Alpina lineup.
In practice, the new model will likely be based on the current 7 Series. A 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 is under consideration for the powertrain, and a fully electric version based on the i7 isn't being ruled out.
Alpina's New Role Within BMW
Following the acquisition of Alpina in 2022, the brand is changing its positioning. It will now occupy a niche between conventional BMWs and Rolls-Royce, competing with Mercedes-Maybach.
This means a shift in focus from pure performance to a blend of power and comfort. Overall, the picture is straightforward: Alpina is evolving into a distinct philosophy within BMW—more understated, yet technologically advanced and aimed at the premium segment.
