A rare 1967 Ford GT40 Mk 1 will be sold at the RM Sotheby's auction in Miami, USA. This car is one of only 31 examples originally built as road-going versions, making it particularly valuable to collectors.

The specific example with chassis P/1058 was constructed as a demonstration car for Ford and used for promotional purposes. It appears in a famous photograph taken at the Slough factory, as well as in a shot at the Tasca Ford dealership alongside a 429 Cobra Jet prototype. Its ownership history is fully documented.

The coupe is finished in Carmen Red with a black interior. For collectors, this detail matters because it highlights the road-going version's features: wing-mounted side mirrors, a windshield-mounted rearview mirror, reverse lights, a heated rear window, leather seats, interior carpeting, and Borrani wheels.

This car never saw competition. In 2021, it underwent mechanical updates while retaining its original character. Overall, the picture is straightforward: the auction house estimates the lot will fetch between $6.5 million and $8.5 million.
