The Mercedes-Benz G550 is one of the most popular iterations of the iconic G-Class SUV. When new in 2021, it carried a price tag of roughly $132,800. Even after five years, these vehicles hold their value remarkably well—a testament to the G-Class's cult following and outstanding build quality. On average, a used G550 from that era changes hands for about $105,000, meaning it has retained nearly three-quarters of its original value; the depreciation amounts to only 26.5 percent.

That’s a far cry from what expert forecasts would suggest. According to industry data, a 2021 G-Class was expected to lose significantly more. Both Edmunds and iSeeCars projected a 34.7 percent drop in value over five years from the $132,800 MSRP, while CarEdge estimated an even steeper 48 percent. In practice, the real-world depreciation has been much milder, reinforcing the G550’s reputation as a remarkably resilient asset in the used car market.
