Jaguar is about to give its production-ready electric GT a real name. According to Autocar India, the official reveal is set for May 12, 2026. The sleek grand tourer has so far been known simply as Type 00—adopting the moniker of the concept that debuted in December 2024—or by its internal code, X900. The production car, however, will wear a different badge.

For the British marque, this marks more than just the arrival of a new model: it signals a complete reset. Design, engineering, and market positioning are all being rebooted. The vehicle is expected to be a low-slung electric grand tourer riding on Jaguar’s bespoke Electric Architecture platform. The full production reveal is penciled in for September 2026, with first deliveries following in early 2027. An earlier report had suggested the GT’s debut was pushed to 2026, though Jaguar is still working to keep its original sales timeline on track.

Early indications point to a potent tri-motor setup—one motor driving the front axle and two at the rear—delivering around 1,014 horsepower. A roughly 120-kWh battery pack is expected to provide over 640 km of range. Other likely highlights include dual-chamber air suspension, adaptive dampers, and 23-inch wheels as standard.

The Type 00 concept was polarizing but undeniably significant: it laid out Jaguar’s fresh visual direction following the brand’s rebrand. The Guardian reported that the concept was unveiled in Miami in December 2024, with the production version meant to spearhead Jaguar’s all-electric lineup. Still, with timelines already shifting in previous reports, any dates tied to the project are best taken with a grain of salt.
