Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC Production Ramps Up at Bremen Plant
Mercedes-Benz accelerates production of the new electric GLC at its Bremen plant. The 800-volt SUV offers up to 715 km range and 10-minute charging for 305 km.
Mercedes-Benz is ramping up production of the new electric GLC at its Bremen plant. The model debuted in September 2025 and is a key part of the brand's electric vehicle strategy.
Mercedes reports that the electric GLC had the highest order volume of any of its EVs in the first quarter. Production takes place in the plant's largest facility, Hall 9. The same assembly line builds the electric GLC, GLC variants with combustion and hybrid powertrains, and the EQE.
This flexible arrangement allows Mercedes to easily adjust output between different powertrain types. The Bremen plant already has EV manufacturing experience: it started series production of the EQC back in 2019.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 4MATIC EQ Technology uses an 800-volt electrical system. Under ideal conditions, a 10-minute DC charging session adds up to 305 km of range. Maximum WLTP range is 715 km.
Battery systems come from Mercedes-Benz Accumotive in Kamenz, electric drives are built in Sebes, and the Hamburg plant supplies electric axles and other components. Among new cars arriving in 2026, the electric GLC is poised to compete in the premium long-range SUV segment.
