Hyundai Ioniq 3 set for 2026: specs, pricing and Europe-first strategy
Discover the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 3: a Europe-first compact EV on 400V E-GMP with FWD/AWD, 58.3 or 81.4 kWh batteries and a €30,000 price. Specs and rivals.
In 2026, Hyundai will introduce the Ioniq 3, which the company describes as one of the linchpins of its EV range. Conceived as a more attainable electric model, it is aimed first and foremost at the European market, where demand for battery-powered cars remains steady. That positioning feels pragmatic.
The Ioniq 3 is Hyundai’s response to shifting market realities. In the United States, the brand has run up against higher tariffs, the rollback of EV tax incentives, and added regulatory risk, so Europe temporarily moves to the front of the queue. There, the newcomer will square up to compact contenders from Volkswagen, Renault and Stellantis, as well as Chinese EVs including BYD. It’s a crowded field, yet a clear value proposition often decides the outcome.
Hyundai previewed the Ioniq 3’s look with the Three concept at the IAA show in Munich. The production car is expected to tone things down while keeping the brand’s signature pixel design cues. Technically, it will be close to the Kia EV3 and use a 400-volt version of the E-GMP platform, offer front- or all-wheel drive, and pack batteries of 58.3 or 81.4 kWh. The expected price is around €30,000. On paper, that combination targets the heart of Europe’s mainstream EV segment.
