Dodge is bringing back the Charger with a HEMI V8 engine before 2030. The model was shown to select U.S. media alongside other new Stellantis models expected by the end of the decade.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the new Charger SRT Hellcat will feature a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 producing more than 700 horsepower. The exact output hasn't been revealed. In the new Ram 1500 SRT and 1500 Rumble Bee SRT, this engine delivers 777 hp, but for the Charger, a 710-hp version similar to the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is also possible.
The vehicle shown to journalists had an aggressive front end, a large hood scoop, a high rear spoiler, and an SRT badge. It will be a distinct model, separate from the teaser SRT Copperhead that Stellantis also showcased at Investor Day 2026.
The return of the V8 is significant for Dodge, following the launch of the new Charger in 2024 as an electric-only model. Later, a gasoline version, the Charger Sixpack with a twin-turbo inline-six, was introduced. In the first quarter of 2026, it outsold the electric Charger by a ratio of 7 to 1.
