Prototypes of the 2027 facelift are already lapping the Alps with a sharper face, split headlights and a new bumper, and rumor says the hot RS will blow past its current 261 hp.

Skoda isn't rushing to bury petrol — and it shows. While the Czech brand floods the market with EVs, its flagship family crossover is gearing up for a serious update. The facelifted Kodiaq prototype for 2027 is already lapping the Alps — and one test car was caught hauling a trailer, in full towing mode.

The real intrigue sits up front. Judging by the camouflage and the first shots, the Kodiaq gains new split-graphic headlights, rethought daytime running lights, a different grille pattern and a completely redesigned bumper. Below sits a wide air intake carved up by a radar zone, while the side vents look far more expressive. The old honeycomb mesh appears to be giving way to horizontal accents.

There's less drama at the rear, but changes are coming there too: new taillights and a reworked bumper. The reflectors on the prototypes are almost certainly temporary, though — on the production car their placement could end up different. Expect fresh wheels and an updated color palette as well.

And inside? Skoda is guarding the cabin especially closely, yet a few things already peek through: a separate infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster. Updated software, a new steering wheel and a redesigned center console all look like safe bets.

The engine range will likely keep its petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions — Skoda isn't about to break what already works. But the hot RS is being set up for a surprise: rumor has it power will climb beyond 300 hp. Today's range-topping Kodiaq RS musters “just” 261 hp — so the jump promises to be a big one.

The Kodiaq remains one of Skoda's most important models: a roomy body, a practical format and the status of a family-buyer favorite.
