Geely aims for Tesla FSD-level autonomous driving by 2026
Geely announces plans to develop G-ASD platform for autonomous driving, targeting Tesla FSD capabilities by 2026 with neural networks and smart mobility ecosystem.
Chinese automotive giant Geely has announced ambitious plans for autonomous driving. Company executives say their systems could approach the current capabilities of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) by 2026. This centers on the development of a new platform called G-ASD, which integrates technologies ranging from Level 2 to Level 4 autonomy.
The system is built on a modern architecture that utilizes neural networks, including visual-language models and elements of "world models." This approach significantly reduces reliance on pre-mapped routes and predefined scenarios.
Geely is taking a comprehensive strategy, advancing both its autonomous driving systems and intelligent cabin features with autonomous interaction capabilities. Over the next two years, the company aims to build a complete "smart mobility" ecosystem.
Against the backdrop of rapid sales growth—over 3 million vehicles in 2025—Geely is heavily investing in technology to solidify its position among global leaders. If Geely successfully reaches FSD-level performance, it could mark a turning point, ending Tesla's monopoly in the autonomous driving market.
